Donal O'Connell

Donal is the Managing Director of Chawton Innovation Services which offers consultancy in the areas of innovation and IP management. He is formerly a VP of R&D and a Director of IP at Nokia where he worked for 21 years and gained wide and varied experience in the wireless telecoms industry. Donal is also a Visiting Researcher at Imperial College Business School in London where he teaches about 'IP management'. Donal's books include 'Inside the Patent Factory' and Harvesting External Innovation'. He is also written a large number of papers on various aspects of innovation and IP. Since 2013, Donal has been included into the IAM 300. He is a graduate from NIHE Limerick (now The University of Limerick) in Ireland in '85, with a Degree in Electronic Engineering.
Emily O’Neill
General Counsel UK, Deminor Litigation Funding, London (UK)
Emily is a general counsel with litigation fund Deminor Recovery Services where she is responsible for the UK market. In that function she provides IP expertise. Emily joined Deminor from Spectris plc where she led the management of IP and global disputes. She obtained a postgraduate diploma in IP law and practise from the University of Oxford and holds a PhD in Inorganic Materials Chemistry from University College London. Emily is named as one of the world’s leading IP strategists by IAM 300. She is a director at AIPPI UK and a committee member of the AIPPI In-House Advisory Committee. Emily speaks regularly at conferences and seminars dealing with IP management and enforcement strategy.
Dr. Shu-Pei Oei

Shu-Pei Oei is Global IP Team Lead at an Austrian MNC. In addition to being a European Patent Attorney, she is designated Chair of the Committee 'Risk Management' at I3PM (International Institute of Intellectual Property Management). Shu-Pei holds a Master in IP Law and Management (LLM), a Ph.D in Engineering (Cantab) and degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (M.Sc, BEng).
Simone Frattasi

Simone Frattasi is a European Patent Attorney and a Telecommunications Engineer with a PhD in Wireless, Mobile Communications. Simone was ranked as a Managing IP's Corporate Star in 2022. Since June 2019, he is the Head of Global IP at MAERSK, Denmark, which, under his lead, has been awarded the Gold Award for "Best IP Department Nordics" at INIFA 2022 and the Silver Award for "Best Patent department EMEA" at ILASA 2022. From 2016 to 2019, he was the Head of Patent Department at Sony Mobile Communications, Sweden, which, under his lead, was awarded the Silver Award for "Best IP Department Nordics" at INIFA 2019. Previously, he worked as a Patent Attorney at two Danish IP firms (Patrade and Plougmann & Vingtoft) and as a Postdoc/Technical Project Manager at Aalborg University, Denmark. He co-founded and acted as CTO/COO for two start-up companies, respectively operating in the business of software development for public speaking training and scientific events management. He represented Sweden in the ISO standard "Innovation Management System, Guidelines for IP Management". He is a Lecturer for Forum Institut for the courses "Patent Portfolio Generation and Management" and "IP Department: Best Practices and Digitization". Simone is co-author of the book "Patent Portfolio Management: A Practical Guide" to be published by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2023.

Mr. Berres is a business owner and consulting partner with IPBA Portal GmbH (formerly Wurzer & Kollegen) in Munich, where he is responsible for managing strategy projects to protect digital business models. Before he has worked for more than 25 years as an executive in various divisions of Siemens AG in Germany and the USA. Wolfgang Berres is author and co-author of publications on IP and knowledge management and a member of the DIN committee on quality in IP management where he was involved in the development of DIN 77006.

Erik Alsegard

Erik has 18 years' specialist experience in IP insurance on both the underwriting and broking side. Prior to that, Erik was senior IP underwriter at Munich Re, having first joined the London insurance market and working with IP insurance as a broker at Miller.
